Student Success Statement

"To see what is right and not to do it is want of courage."
Confucius

This statement is trying to say that when you see someone or something wrong, your suppose to do the opposite and do what's right. If you know what's right and do what's wrong is a sign of not having courage in your self. Just because someone else does what's wrong and it seems right doesn't mean you should do it and get in trouble for something you didn't mean to do.

Student Success Statement (John Wooden)

Student Success Statement
“When I was teaching basketball, I urged my players to try their hardest to improve on that very day, to make that practice a masterpiece.
This rule is even more important in life than basketball. You have to apply yourself each day to become better. By applying yourself to the task of becoming a little better each and every day over a period of time, you will become a lot better. Only then will you be able to approach being the best you can be. It begins by trying to make each day count and knowing you can never make up for a lost day.”
John Wooden

Reflection:
I think this reflection is trying to say that you have to make yourself better each day. Whether  if it’s on doing good in work or any sport you have to apply yourself and do way better than when you have practiced with your team or by yourself.

Mario Cuomo

Reflection:
This reflection is trying to say that when you do something bad, you will have that urge you did bad. So that’s why you have to do good to feel that feeling you get when you are doing great.

Tips 1-2

Tips 1-2
Tip 1: Annotate
Be an active reader. Instead of passively reading a text, take notes about important story elements, key factual information and significant ideas in the text.
Tip 2:
Every author writes with a purpose, using deliberate methods to successfully relate specific information to the audience. When you’re reading, look for patterns in the author’s writing. For example, you may notice a repetition of key words, phrases or symbols- or the use of a distinct type of sentence structure. Authors employ these writing strategies to help readers comprehend a central argument or theme, so to explore how these techniques create meaning.

Summary

Reflection:
This reflection is trying to say no matter how bad a child acts, they do not deserve to be locked up in a restroom or anywhere for 6 years. This type of punishment is not tolerated in any way. Children deserve freedom as well as if they do something bad they should get punished. But this type of punishment went to far. This could have put the girl in great danger. And nobody was their to help her out.

Balancing High School and Part- Time work

Balancing High School and Part-Time Work
Part 1
Like many high school students, you may want- or need- to work part time. Working takes a lot of time and energy, though, so before getting a job, make sure that you think about your ability to handle both work and your education.
Important Considerations
You have to weigh a number of factors when deciding whether to take on a part- time job. It’s more important to get as much information as possible, so you can figure out what choice makes the most sense for you.
Schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss the idea of working. Talk to your counselor about why you want to work and what type of position you’re seeking.

Define your goals deliberately, evaluate your goals often and make changes as necessary, work hard to achieve your goals, and continue working hard until you actually do reach your goals.

Selecting your Courses

Selecting Your Courses
Part 5
The Arts
Many colleges require or recommend one or two semesters in the arts. God choices include studio art, dance, music and drama. Many students have talents and extraordinary abilities in the arts. Students should look within their own repertoire of talents and identify their artistic abilities and take college classes to develop their talents.
Advanced Placement Program (AP)
To be sure you are ready to take on college- level work, enroll in the most challenging courses you can in high school, such as honors or AP courses. Research consistently shows that students who score a 3.0 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success and college graduation rates than students who don’t take AP.
Work hard in your righteous pursuits, and you will reap the benefits of self-fulfillment and job satisfaction. Don’t take shortcuts just to “get by,” instead, take challenging and difficult roads (courses) and reach higher mountain peaks of achievement.
